Class Schedule
Classes commence the second week in September and follow the school calendar. Our annual Advent concert is held in December and we will have a year end concert in June. We would like to see all classes participate in the Cheremosh festival, held in St. Albert in early May. Some classes will perform at other festivals such as the St. Paul Desna festival, the Calgary Tryzub festival, the Vegreville Pysanka festival etc. Parents will be surveyed in the new year to decipher interest and availability.
Throughout the year there may arise other performing opportunities such as dancing at parish events and/or senior’s residences. These performances will depend on dancer availability.
Placement within School of Dance
Dancers are placed depending on their age, potential skill and technique. This ensures dancers are placed with those of similar abilities. Instructors will make the final decision as to where dancers are placed.
- Class levels ranging in age from 3 years to adult
- Dance times vary depending on age and range from 30 minutes – 180 minutes
- Adult class – no previous dance experience required.
- Solo instruction available upon request and availability of instructors. Fees for this instruction are not included in the School of Dance tuition fees.
Dancers in and entering into Grade 7, are encouraged to attend auditions with Vesna (performing group). Auditions are held prior to the end of the dance year. Watch your e-mails for dates and times.
Costume Requirements
St. Basil’s School of Dance is always adding to their collection of regional dance costumes. Costumes will be provided and costume rental fees are in effect and will be charged in addition to entrance fees.
