Tricia Bayrock
For over the past thirty-five years Tricia has been involved in the dance and arts community. Her extensive training in dance includes Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Ukrainian Dance and Theatre Arts. She has instructed Ukrainian dance for the past twenty-three years to dancers of all ages.
Tricia has attended numerous workshops and seminars on Ukrainian and Character Dance. She completed her advanced Rad In Ballet with honors and the Al Gilbert Advanced Tap and Jazz Exams with distinction.
She has been invited to instruct in several workshops and freelance choreography for numerous dance schools. Tricia has been approached to adjudicate at various festivals throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. She has been honored with outstanding awards for choreography and recognized for instructional achievements. She is currently Artistic Director at St. Basil’s School of Dance and the Veselka Ukrainian Dancers.
She is an honorary member of the Ukrainian Cheremosh Dance Ensemble, and continues to remain extremely active in the Ukrainian Dance Community. Tricia has performed for numerous dignitaries throughout the world and has traveled extensively with the Ukrainian Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. She was invited to co-instruct for the World Games, closing ceremonies of which two of her dance groups participated in. Her love and passion for dance continues in her instructional efforts.
Catherine Wasylycia
Catherine started Ukrainian dancing at age four at St. Basil’s School of Dance. She continued through the school and danced with the Kupalo Ukrainian Dance Ensemble for eight years. Catherine has also trained in ballet, jazz, hip-hop and musical theatre. She currently dances with Vohon Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. Dancing has takenher all through Canada, United States, Scotland, Ukraine, Austria and Brazil. This is her second year instructing at St. Basil’s School of Dance.
Stephen Ekstrom
Stephen Ekstrom has been instructing with St. Basil’s School of Dance for the past six years and has taught ages 3-13. Stephen’s dancing career began here at the School of Dance when he was three, and continued till he was dancing with Kupalo. He has been a Ukrainian dancer for sixteen years, and is currently dancing with Vohon Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. He has experience with a variety of different regions of Ukrainian dance, and has been trained in various styles of dance. Stephen received his degree in Secondary Education from the University of Alberta with a major in Drama.
